We found a cat about 6 weeks ago and we put up signs, listed her online, went to four shelters and put in a found cat form and no one has claimed her yet. So we been taking care of her and my kids adore her and I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the knots out??? They are huge!!! I am afraid to cut them out.

Cutting them out may be the best way to get rid of them. Brushing might help some. Trim them a little at a time, then brush, then trim some more. Sometime the cats get so matted that they have to be shaved with one of those Wahl hair trimmers like the barber uses. Good luck.

5Step FiveSlowly work apart the fur mat with your fingers. Snip away a little more if necessary. Reassure the cat in a soothing voice as you snip. If she becomes upset, stop and come back to the task later.

6Step SixOnce you've worked apart the fur mat and it's clearly away from the skin, cut it off.

7Step SevenReward the cat's cooperation with a kitty treat.

8Step EightIf the cat has several fur mats, remove them at separate times. The cat will quickly lose her patience after you remove the first fur mat. Build trust with a gentle approach and kitty treats to make future encounters easier.

10Step TenPurchase a hair-ball treatment at a pet store to help your cat eliminate a troublesome hair ball. Or feed the cat butter or a can of oily sardines.

1Step OneStart your cat's grooming regime when he's a kitten. Teaching kitty to sit still while you cut his claws and give him a bath will help to prepare him for getting his first trim. If kitty fights you too hard and will not be still you may need to visit the Vet for some tranquilizers in order to safely trim him.

2Step TwoTrim with the scissors first. Use scissors for all the places the trimmers can't get close enough to trim. Cut the long hairs around her ears, snipping a little at a time near the inside opening of the ear only. Trim the long hair around her anus to help her to keep clean.Trim around each nipple on a female cat and all around her vulva if she is due to have kittens soon. This cuts down on infection during birth and helps the newborn kittens to find their milk source better. If your cat's fur is matted, cut the mats out with scissors - don't try to run the trimmers over the matted places--you will make a mess.

3Step ThreeUse the trimmers for the body of the cat from his neck to the base of his tail. Turn the trimmers on for a moment or two and watch kitty's reaction. He may need time getting used to the loud noise before he'll settle down. If he's afraid of the noise, take your time. Many cats are afraid of the trimmer's noise and will need to be tranquilized in order to sit still enough to be safely trimmed.

4Step FourLay the kitty down on a towel to prevent a huge mess later. Start trimming at the base of the tail, trimming a little at a time so that you don't go overboard. Better safe than sorry. If you really want to trim more closely be very careful not to nick the cat's skin. It's sometimes hard to judge where the skin is if the cat's fur is really long and especially if it's thick.

5Step FiveTrim carefully from the tail upward going toward the head. Most groomers keep the hair on the cat's head longer so don't shave that. If you really think the hair on her head needs a trim, use the trimmers or scissors to just trim the longest hairs. Don't cut the hair on her face. Make sure to comb kitty good and really look at her after you trim--before you trim any more. You should be able to make kitty and yourself more comfortable with a careful trim.

If the knots/mats are big and close to the skin, DO NOT try and cut them out. Cats' skin is very thin and you are liable to cut it. Mats and knots are harmful because they are constantly pulling on the skin, which hurts and can eventually cause nerve damage. My advice is to take the cat to the groomer's to be clipped. If she's REALLY bad, take her to the vet to have her sedated and clipped. Needless to say, once her coat is knot-free, maintain it and brush her once a week to prevent future mats!

Cut them out. If you really don;t want ot try that, or if shes not going to hold still enough for it, try puttion corn or vegitable oil on it. I have horses and when their manes get knotted into huge knots this is the ONLY way I've been able to get it out sometimes. It will take time and patience though. Just dab some on the knots, it will make the hair slippery and make it easier to take them out. Good luck!

OK well first you want to get some skinny jeans and maybe straight legged jeans - available in all retail stores like topman/urban outfitters etc.. theyre pretty popular and you can purchase them in different colors. Get yourself some girls jeans too. There's no problem with that - the majority of people wear 'em.

Buy some online too if u want - eBay is your friend X]

there are plenty of other sites you can buy emo/scene clothes from as well. Just look around.

Some converse and vans slip ons. Old skool nike dunks are for the hardxcore scene kids amongst others but personally i prefer converses and vans. wearing them with skinny jeans looks hella ace.

Then purchase some tight band t-shirts if u want and hoodies - striped ones and darker colors like black, white, grey, red etc.. wear it with studded belts or plain colored leather belts and a belt buckle. Get ur lip pierced too maybe but it's up to you. Maybe some plugs too. Snake bites look kinda awesome.

Wear some eyeliner or 'guyliner' as they call it.

Don't over do it though. Softer shades like light brown/pink/purple and blue are kl.

For hair get it styled - grow out ur bangs (fringe) over your eyes and grow out your sides and maybe back if u want but people tend to stick this bit up. and then dye it if u wanted to as well. black, blonde, red, brown, blue - any color will do, remember to have a pair of straighteners too! - An ESSENTIAL for emo/scene hair plus get some decent stylish wax/gel/clay u can get and all that etc...

but don't just do it because you want to 'fit in' or look the part.

You're a boy, right? I suggest growing your hair to a reasonable length wear it's long and swishes across your face. I know this kid with Ear length, flippy black hair. His sidebang really sets it off though. I suggest tight, black shirts with lots of bands and stuff. Don't overdo the emoness, but this is a great way to start off!

I feel like pulling my hair out all the time. I'm 15 weeks pregnant, hypoglycemic, have 2 boys that love to fight, a full time job and a husband that I love dearly but sometimes I feel like he drives me nuts more than anything. Oh yeah my mother makes me crazy too. The only thing I can think about is that I would miss it all after about 2 days of laying on a beach alone. Except the mom thing it would definately take a lot longer than 2 days to miss her. ;)

I totally feel you, I am a stay at home mom with six children I am babysitting my four neices and nephews, I have friends calling me wanting and needing help all the time with everything and I feel like I should just be superwoman. I have days where all I can think about is running away and not looking back but then I remember, what would I do without my children and my friends are my friends for a reason right. I believe everyone is put here to help one another and I am grateful my friends trust me and respect me enough to ask for my help and my opinion. You sound like a great person and obviously you are someone everyone can go to for help. Take your down time and relax. You are doing great and sound like an awsome person. I hope your husband tells you that all the time and your children let you know they love you. Maybe neither. Both of my parents have strawberry blonde hair and green eyes. I came out with blue eyes and ash brown hair. Your childrens traits will not just come from the dominent genes expressed in you/your boyfriend, but may come from recessive genes that are not expressed but passed on. (i.e. my blue eyes come from several different sources on both sides of my family that my parents didn't inherit but were able to pass on. Same goes with my hair.)

Well he's more likely to have brown eyes and brown hair but you never know. My dad's family is Japanese so they all have dark brown eyes and black hair while my mom's family has either green, hazel green, or brown eyes and red or brown hair. But I have a mixture of both because I have black hair and light brown/orange eyes. So it really just depends but since there's so much diversity in you and your bf's family traits, then you'll most likely be suprised because he could end up having anything.

I use a hair straightning iron, it doesnt really take me so long, bout 15-20 minutes. but get a good one, not from walmart..that maxi one is the one i have i think...look on ebay too, anyways it makes it nice and thin feeling and really shiny and manageable, and when you wash your hair it will go back to normal though.

make sure you use alot of moisturizing shampoos/conditioners when you wash your hair. that will keep the frizz a bit down. if its bothering you that much, just invest in a REALLY good hair straightener like Sedu. i have one and it works AMAZING. it costs alot but it will save you tons of money in the long run.

I do. I get up and cook for mine, bathe them, comb their hair, take them for rides, and take them to the park. I like toy breeds the best because you can carry them around.

This is a touchy subject to the various types of owners there are. I for one, personally, i treat my dogs like they are people only to the extent that they get hungry, they get hot, they get hurt, and they need love. I feed them good quality dog food (Natural Balance), when its hot outside i wet them down to help them cool off and i put a large electric fan we have outside to blow air. When they are hurt, i place antibiotics on their cuts and have them checked by the vet yearly and whenever they need it. I give them love everyday when i go outside and pet them or play with them. Now, from then on, i know and understand that they are dogs and animals. I do not let them inside the house all day unless they are small. I have three GSD's and a schauzer (my wife') adn only the schnauzer stays inside. The three GSD's are outside all day allowed to run free. When i feed them, i lock them up in their individual kennels upto an hour or two afterwords to help prevent bloat. When it rains, they are either in their kennels, or under an overhang we have outside. I don't let them in. I remember, wolves are out in the rain all their lives and they are fine, so can my dogs. I DO NOT, let them ride anywhere near the front seat when i take them out. In my truck they are in teh bed, in teh SUV they are in the backseat or when teh backseat is folded down in the open space. I brush them everyday and check their ears once a week. When they go for walks with me, they are on a leash at all times. When at a park and NO ONE else is there, i consider removing the leash, but that depends on teh place. Each has their own bowls and kongs to chew on. Some think i am cruel but the differnce is I understand my dogs are animals and eventually, they will die before me. My dogs are working dogs so they need to be able to adjust to all types of environments. If you don't agree with me, well, thats your opinion but i do not agree with letting a dog ride in teh front seat with you or sleeping on a bed with you or eating out of a 100 dollar bowl or wearing clothes of any kind. Sorry, but that is my opinion.

I definitely do. I have 2 rotts, a pittbull, 2 great pyrenees mixes, a long haired chihuahua, and 6 cats. They are all inside pets, the dogs only go outside to use the bathroom. I do go out with them twice a day to let them run and play for a couple of hours. Even though I have 6 fenced acres, they never go out unattended.

I make my own dog food, they get fed chicken and rice with various veggies. The cats get chicken, tuna, salmon, and shrimp mixed in with their dry food. I also make the dogs peanut butter treats. They all have their own big fluffy beds, complete with fuzzy blankets, pillows and stuffed animals. However they usually end up piling into bed with my hubby and me.

You may be able to snag a couple of photo shoots with them but what I have noticed with Abercrombie is that they are mainly looking for traditional Aerian looks (i.e. blond hair, blue eyes). I could be wrong about this but everything I have seen for Abercrombie has white people. SO maybe Abercrombie shouldnt be your first attempt at modelling, maybe you could try for another store and once you have more repetoir they will be impressed and therefore more interested in hiring you? I dont know. Go for it if you think you are hot enough to do it, cause if you have the confidence that may be the one thing they are really looking for.

Yes, your comment was rude...and if the givers wanted you to be able to exchange it they'd have included the reciept for you to do so. You can try to return it to a store that sells that same model, and get something else if you desire but a gift should be appreciated whether you already have one or not. How to put this delicately? I believe when you gift give, you should do it out of the kindness of your heart and never expect something back, that's the point of giving. If you are giving with the hopes that you'll get something in return, then you're doing sort of an "exchange" or purchase. The whole point of a gift is that there is no consideration attached.

To your question, when I first read it, I immediately assumed that it was a very young person writing it. You've been married for 15 years and got your first gift. Instead of feeling happy you actually got something, you're upset and actually wanted to offend her "thought" of getting you a hairdryer. Instead of thinking "wow, at least she thought of me" you thought "geez, who gives somebody a hairdryer and why didn't she get the hint that she should get me something I don't already have" because you're entitled due to the gifts you gave her husband (let's face it, they weren't for her, they were geared for her husband).

If this had been me, I would not only refuse to replace it, I would never get you anything again because the point of gift giving is feeling the joy it brings the other person. You shouldn't feel hurt at all. Maybe you wouldn't buy somebody a hairdryer, but you know what? You have no idea why she thought of giving you that gift. I've gifted electric toothbrushes because I felt they were the best thing to ever happen to my teeth (no cavities since I got one 10 years ago and compliments). I think that you need to be the better person here. You should get your Thank-you stationary out, send her a card (even if you didn't keep the card). Just say, "I really appreciate the hairdryer you got me which was obviously thoughtful since I already have one. I hope you found somebody that would enjoy it." I am bonafide white, brown haired (as a child I was strawberry blonde), light skinned, and blue eyed, and his father is bonafide Korean, dark skinned, brown eyed with black hair. So, yes, I think it is possible. Just because the mother is Korean doesn't mean that she rules the genetic dominance. Blue eyes are generally dominant over brown.

We havn't said I love you in about 10 yrs. My sons are 11 - 4 . We have always been like roomates who have kids together. My wife and I don't really have anything in common, and I think its always been a cultural thing. I'm white and she's Hispanic. I realize now this has always been an issue under the surface.

I had a bad accident (near fatal) about a 18 months ago helping a stranded motorists and she never cried or said how terrible - things you'd expect from your spouse . She asked how long I'd be in the hospital ! She now has a decent job w/benefits. I'm thinking of making a move while I'm still realitvly young (41) and have most of my hair and teeth. I work in healthcare and a lot of females have expressed interest in my marital status. But, where do I start ? I want to sell the house and give her the money. Neither of us could afford it on our own. I know people have worse problems but this is such a hollow existence.

Listen, it's okay for you to ask advice. Most guys I know wouldn't give the ex's anything let alone the money from the house. You two need to sit and talk amongst a counselor. Tell her your feelings in front of one. If you feel empty or hollow inside, there's not much left, you need a fresh start, just date, don't remarry right away or you'll be in the same boat again. Just be truthful, it never hurts to be honest. Maybe she feels the same about you. Hey sometimes people grow apart, it happens. Toughing it out for the kids is not a reason to remain in a loveless marriage. I have to admit that it will be hard on the children, but they're not dumb or blind to the fact that mommy and daddy have a strain on them. It's best to end the marriage and allow yourself and your wife the ability to rebuild your lives, and possibly remarry at some point. I have to ask though, have you two tried to talk about the gap in your relationship? Have you just danced around the issues in your marriage until you've reached this point? I am currently in a relationship that is coming to an end for the same types of reasons. Making a big change like this will mean sacrifice and fear of the unknown ahead. Keep in mind that this existence you've come to know and dislike will be over and you will have a fresh start. You can do anything you like and take time to think about you and what your hopes and dreams are now that there isn't anyone else in the picture who requires your consideration. If you have gone for 12 yrs and things are still not worked, I would leave. It is nice to stay for the sake of children but you have to think about yourself also. I would start by discussing it with her and then go and talk with a lawyer. He/she will advise you on how and what you have to do to make it as comfortable as it can be for both of you. Also, with the sale of this house... it's nice that you want to give her the $$$... but really...haven't you put your share into it already? Why pay both child support, AND give her 100% proceeds of the house. You gotta take care of yourself too... for your sake, and your kids sake.

Have you even talked to her to see if she would like a split too? Maybe she does but feels bound by her vows.

You have to be happy, living in a miserable relationship isn't healthy for anyone, especially the kids. they pick up on vibes even if nothing is ever said. talk to your wife (for the first time in years?) and tell her how you feel, ask how she feels. leave out the part about other women finding you attractive, though, no sense in hurting your wife or "going there". Just make it about you and her not being happy. I hope you can have a decent split-up if you choose that route.

I feel your PAIN. You have to do what's best for you. Does sound kind of COLD that she wasn't interested in your well being after the accident. Maybe it's time for you to move on.

Being a child from a loveless marriage was worse than when my parents got divorced. If you two are sticking it out for the kids, you should think twice. Staying in a loveless marriage might be hurting them more than a divorce ever would. There are solutions. If you really care what your kids would want, then get a divorce but don't move far away from each other. It gives you the ability to find love but also you will always know your kids are close by should anything ever happen.

Obviously you feel like you need to end the relationship. In the end you have to look out for yourself at some point. There many ways to keep your kids happy as well as yourself.

It makes no sense for you to step out on your wife until you try to communicate with her and really acknowledge that after two children together, you really do share something in common. That could improve if you stop worrying about how you are going to look 10 years from now. You are not doing your children any favors by letting them watch their parents live this way. Is this how you want them to model their marriages? You will probably be a better father if you divide time between parents. If your wife is self sufficient there should be no guilt. If you can walk away knowing that you have tried everything and there are no hard feelings, then go. Life is too short to not be loved. Good luck

Unfortunately, feelings change, and it sounds like yours have. I don't know if your wife loves you, but it is time to leave. You should not live like this. I know you have kids together, but kids sense these things and you are better off living separate than letting your kids see you live like this. Your job as a parent is to raise your children to have healthy relationships. I say it is time you move on. I think it will be good if you can remain friends with your wife.
