i have tried store brand lice medication, non-toxic lice medication, mayonnaise (really really greasy too), olive oil....nothing seems to work... I needmore ideas they do not seem to go away at all...i even shampooed the furniture and the carpets, bagged all the stuffed animals, washed all bedding and nothing i mean nothing keeps them from coming back. my kids do not go to day care so i really do not know what to do......PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

I know it may sound funny, but try this, it really works!

saturate the hair with listerine mouthwash and cover with a shower cap. Leave for 2 hours then shampoo in the normal way

Also buy tea tree oil and add it to your own shampoo and conditioner, it will get rid of the lice.

Also Vinager gets rid of the glue that holds the nits, that way it is easier to pick them off.

Also at walmart there is this Comb is called LiceGuard Robi Comb --- Electronic Lice Comb It states that it "Kills Lice WITHOUT Chemicals"You use it on dry hair. It takes a AA battery and you switch it on and it "will electronically kill lice while being harmless to the user.The comb is well worth the $22.00.

2 ounces Tea Tree Oil

12.5 ounces Dawn Dishwashing Liquid (Dawn ONLY)

4 ounces white vinegar

Mix the three ingredients in a large squeeze bottle, such as an empty dish soap bottle. Use as regular shampoo, leave on for about 5 minutes before rinsing. Use conditioner to soften hair and keep dandruff down

ok from experience you are not alone!!! every mom feels like nothing is working. You must just keep doing what you are doing and I promise one day you will see the light at the end of the tunnel! I felt like the non-toxic lice shampoo(smells like licorice) worked best. you put it in cover with shower cap and wait then comb out the shampoo(which will have thicken) Do this then every day comb through the hair....you will want to pull your own hair out but DONT. It will end!!!

well when i was in grade 3, i had REALLY bad lice. it was terrible! but what we did was we treated my head with tea tree oil (you can get it at drug stores) and put a plastic bag on my head for like half an hour or more..this should kill all the live lice and eggs, and then we washed it out, and i layed there while they picked out all the eggs and dead lice..they dropped the eggs and lice in a lite candle. and we did this every week for about three weeks or more. and it really got rid of it.

you should also be checking your child's head everyday, and picking out anything you see.

also you want to throw all the pillows, and pillow cases and bedding in the dryer for about 10-15 minutes TOPS! just to kill anything that could be on it. vaccum the couch. rinse the hair brushes with hot water and then stick it in your freezer, this will kill the lice and/or eggs in the brush.

another little fact about lice is, that if you child has lice, it takes up to a month for you to actually notice they have lice, and it takes about a month to get rid of ALL the lice.

Use Denorex extra strength (make sure it's extra strength) and wash daily with it, they swear the lice fall off dead. Use it every day.

As a preventive measure put 10 drops of tea tree oil in any shampoos you use this should keep them from coming back...
