Anyone have any sure-fire ways to help our son's new puppy bond to him (and not so much us, mom and dad)? We took a pup in from a litter that were dumped :( And we already have two dogs that are not attached very to our son - and we want this one to be "his" dog. Also - is there ANY way to tell what type of mixes we migth have in this heinz 57? She is dark brown, short hair, has some brindle striping, skinny legs, a rounded cute face %26amp; her paws aren't too big (kinda petite). To be honest - I really want to make sure she doesn't have a "bully breed" mixed into her (no offense to those who love their pits %26amp; rotties!!)

have your son play and train the pup. also taking responsibility over the dog with walking and feeding it. also taking it to obedience classes or any cool agility. that really helps with bonding, but it also depends on how old your son it...
the dog could be any kind of mix breed dog. but even if it has part bull breed in it, dont worry about it. i have two pitts and a rottie, and they make wonderful family pets!!!! but it could be a Shepard mix, a great Dane mix, but a pic will help us let you know..

Taking a dog on a one-on-one walk with you almost every day is a great way for kids to bond with their fellow dogs, no matter how old. Make sure ur kid knows that its good to talk to the dog and use its name. Doing simple things, such as watching t.v. with the dog, can do much to improve their relationship. Personally, it doesn't matter what breed a dog is, or if it has a "bully breed" mixed into her. Actually, its good in a way if you don't know, because then you can ignore the stereotypes/generalities of the breed(s). Remember it's YOUR dog. It can be what ever you make it. If you want her to be nice to everyone, socialize her well. That's all it takes. You wont need to care ever again about breed.

how old is kid?? as you begin training. have your son next to you repeating everything. the dog will see you both as leaders. then slowly have them interact more together with you stepping back. a little kid cannot do this by himself, you still have to be the main leader no matter what.have the dog sleep in his room, this will give them quiet bonding time as well...

The most important thing to do is have your son feed the dogs. That puts him up there on the totum pole of respect. He must also walk him, play w/him %26amp; disiplin him. I would let the dogs sleep w/ him @ night. He must take the interest. I hope he's old enough. If not the dog will just follow suite with the other ones.
