How to fix damaged hair?

I was a natural blonde as a kid and now my hair is darker. For years I've been dying it blonde, a shade called "extra light natural blonde". Now my long blonde hair is damaged. How can I fix the damage... without turning burnette?

Because the outer layer of hair (the keratin sheath) has to be made porous (generally by bleaching) in order to dye it permanently, after a few years it is so full of holes that the naturally overlapping scales of keratin have lifted, producing a damaged appearance. It is possible to apply various types of oil, wax and/or silicon-containing products, which will temporarily give the appearance of having "repaired" the hair, but these products will in themselves build up and you will need more shampoo to remove them, and then yet more "repair" product to make the hair shaft look smooth again.

It is helpful to remember that hair is not alive, any more than fingernails, so it cannot heal or be nourished. It can only be coated and stripped. By far the best solution for you would be to get a beautiful short haircut, enjoy the freedom it gives you, and try some henna or a semipermanent rinse if you want to colour your hair. Good luck and have fun!

dont wash it everyday! getting in the shower and just rinsing out your hair is fine but dont take shampoo to it. only wash it like 3 to 4 times a week it stop the color from fading and help your hair heal. also if you blow dry it or straighten it everyday stop! pick one or the other or just dont all together a couple days a week

there is no way to "fix" the damage but there are things u can do to make it look better. I personally like hot oil treatments though some say that they dont work, my dry hair always benefits from them. If there is a lot of damage it might be wise to trim a lot of the damage off for a while and sport a shorter style til u can grow it out. The dyeing will keep damaging your hair but u may want to do less blow drying and straight ironing and it will make your hair at least less damaged. Another route is changing the amount of blonde u use. you may consider lots of blonde highlights instead of dying it all. Or even picking a shade a few shades darker so that ur hair doesnt have to be as bleached.

you should def get a trim and try to keep it to every 6weeks . you should get a T-Bar of meiche hilites to match up to your colour when your roots come out for a couple of times to give the majority of your hair a break.you could put a semi permanent colour allover your hair that dosent have any pigment in it ,it will just add shine and gloss and condition it. and put in treatments once a week and you wont have to go brunette
