A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Don't tell me the shampoo companies like that, just kidding. My point is: If God did not guide the evolution, we would not have hair at all. Please don't say anything about the body temperature on our heads. The primitive men certainly could make caps from animal skins in the same way they made clothes.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Why do you think that if "God" did not guide evolution, we would not have hair? Exactly what is your scientific source for THAT information?

Actually, the body temperature on our heads is exactly the reason that we have hair. Body heat leaves the body from the head quicker than anywhere else, and that why we still have hair there. We still have eyebrows, too, even though primitive men could stand out of the rain so it wouldn't run into their eyes. It has nothing to do with God. We could just as easily argue that- if God had "perfectly" designed us, HE would have designed us without hair, because he KNEW we were capable of making caps.

Speak for yourself

God is cursing me for some reason, maybe deserved and my Doctor says that Jelly won't do nothing for it!

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

One theory says we were aquatic mammals at one point. What is the only other mammal that has hair on it's head and virtually no where else? Hippopotamus!

Actually they say it was so the mother could grab her children by the hair while learning to swim, or to protect the head from getting too cold because of the water. I don't really know, but evolution is beginning to give us hair on our bodies (have you seen some people???!!!). Here's a link:

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

because we evolved from apes, apes had hair, and yes it is body temperature, sure we could have made hats i guess but we were designed to survive and that's worked out.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

If I was an athiest I'd say so chicks can do the flip of the hair thing to attract men...it works on me anyway lol

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

We're primates and mammals. Do you know the criteria for being a mammal, for example? It means we have hair and fingernails. Science says that we evolved that way.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Maybe there will be a point in the future where humans no longer have any hair....

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Just because we can make caps *now* doesn't mean that earlier hominids could. You may as well argue that there's no point in having an immune system since we could just figure out which plants are medicinal.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

ancient man had more hair than we do today for warmth and cleanliness. modern humans have less hair so maybe we are evolving to where humans don't have much hair.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Why do you state 'head', we have hair ;all over' our bodies.....

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

This is the worst creationist argument that I've ever heard, besides that one about "nature not knowing when to evolve".

Suffice to say that humans haven't had enough time to lose their hair through evolution. Look at our ancestors, like Cro-Magnons. They were much more hairy than we are today.

Eventually, there may be a time when body hair has completely disappeared, because of its lack of function.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Hmm, good question, would you like to ask an evolutionary biologist? Or are you just to try to stump atheists?

Of course, you do realize that the fact that you have hair is NOT proof of the existence of YOUR god. Maybe RA, Mithras, Osiris, or FSM gave us hair. Maybe it was El/IL. Perhaps it was even Asherah, God's wife that none of you seem to remember. That whole part about making man "like us" in Genesis, the 'us' refered to El and Asherah. Look it up in the true history of your religion instead of the christian version. That is, if you aren't scared to do so.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

You are assuming evolution is guided. It is not. Species evolve due to changes in their environment. Evolution is not guided by god, and typically cannot be predicted.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Would the more appropriate question be why god allows some people to have cancer. To make suppositions with missing data only attributes ignorance to your religion.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Posting a science question in the religion and spirituality section often means the asker does not really want an answer. His goal is to ask a question that he believes proves some scientific knowledge to be wrong, or that science does not yet answer, and make the implicit claim that the only other explanation is a god, and specifically, the same god he happens to believe in.

It's the "god of the gaps" - intellectually bankrupt, since it favors ignorance instead of knowledge, and because of the contained logical fallacy.

However, on the off chance that you really want to know the answer:

It could be that humans, having huge heads and losing so much heat through them, gained an advantage from hair - retaining heat.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Let's put it in terms you'll understand...

The fuzzy animals that were our parents', parents', parents', and so on would not understand to make caps. Let's put it this way: Do monkeys make caps? The early humans did not make clothes when first separating from great apes.

Hon, before asking such questions and making such suggestions, at least PRETEND to research a bit on the matter.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

primitive man? ok... no god then.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Doi...

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

It goes with the giant brain. Keep the heat in.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

We are mammals. We evolved this way. Mammals have hair.

Hair's main value is to help insulate mammals -keep them warm. Hair can also have an important role in some species in the identification of males from females - human males have lots of facial hair, females do not.

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

I'm throwing down the gauntlet:

Church Lady, can you beat this?

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Is this a dumb premise or what?

A question for atheists: Why we have hair?

Wow. Impressive!

I've never heard this particular aguement before.

Neat :)
